Team Standards & Code of Conduct Agreement

Faith, Character, Leadership, Excellence, Respect, & Team Work are all words we want associated with Purpose Driven Baseball.  Our mission is to equip young men not only for the sport of baseball, but also for purpose in life. We want to cultivate an environment for each participant in our program to thrive as we pursue character and baseball excellence. We are relying on you as parents to support the mission of PD Baseball and keep the game in its proper perspective by agreeing to the following:

I will encourage my son to use maximum
effort, to learn new skills, and to bounce back from mistakes.

I understand that athletes have different natural abilities and are at different levels of physical development and that the true measure of my son’s success is not how my child compares to others, but how he/she is doing in comparison to his best self.

I pledge to “Honor the Game.” I understand the importance of setting a good example for my son and that my son might be embarrassed by any out-of-bounds behavior on my part. No matter what others may do, I will show respect for all involved in the game including coaches, athletes, opponents, opposing fans, and officials. I understand that officials make mistakes. If the official makes a “bad” call against my team, I will “Honor the Game” and be silent. 

I pledge to refrain from calling out instructions to my son or approaching the bench during a game or breaks in a game. I understand that this is the coach’s job. I will limit my comments during the game to encouraging my son and other players for both teams.

I pledge to refrain from making negative comments about my son’s coach in front of my son, my son’s teammates, or other team parents. If I have a conflict with the coach, I pledge to handle it in a proper manner and approach the coach directly, privately, and respectively after a 24 hour cool down period. 

I realize Purpose Driven Baseball is an organization that stresses character and excellence…Character: “The inward motivation to do the right thing to the highest standard of behavior “God’s Standard” in every situation”.  I will encourage my son to strive for excellence in Character on and off the field.  I also realize that if PD coaches or leaders of the PD organization feel my son is not meeting the standards on and off the field, he may be asked to leave the program and no fees paid to PD Baseball will be refunded.

I understand that the foundation to Purpose Driven Baseball is Biblical Truth.  I understand that current and guest coaches will be teaching Biblical principles to my son to foster character and leadership development.  I also understand that they will be sharing stories from their own lives…lessons learned etc.

Player Expectations:

  • No Tobacco or Profanity
  • Be Prepared to Play- Be on time, in uniform, etc.
  • Respect the Game- Hustle, Teamwork, etc.
  • Relentlessly positive attitude, be an encouraging teammate
  • Attend all practices and games (if you live within 20 mile radius)
  • Consequences for breaking team rules may include extra fitness or less playing time
  • Memorize: Character: “The inward motivation to do the right thing to the highest standard of behavior (God’s Standard) in every situation”
  • My Social Media: Twitter, Instagram, Facebook etc. will reflect the character I strive to achieve

Be on Time: Arrive at all games 1 hour before game time. 

Uniforms: Bring both hats, jerseys and pants to each game. 

Commitment: We expect a high level of commitment to the team and to the tournament schedule.  However, we realize that conflicts do arise from time to time. If you have a conflict, please let us know by Wednesday before the tournament so we can make arrangements to have all positions covered.

Player Fees: All fees for the Summer and Fall need to be paid up front.  The reason is due to the fact that I am required to pay for all tournaments in advance.  If we are rained out, I will be given a credit for future tournaments.  If there are extenuating circumstances regarding finances, please make arrangements with me.  Summer Fees are due by May 15th. (This may change even more due to the actions of other organizations (recruiting) and unfortunately folks not following through on their commitments.

Playing time:  Playing time is not guaranteed.  We do strive to be as equitable as possible, but we cannot promise that each player will play the same as another.  We will work very hard to put each PD player in a position for growth and success.  We have several teams in the 14-17U age groups. You may be asked to bounce around a bit, especially if you are a pitcher or catcher.
