Dominican Republic Baseball Mission Trip
Our 12/13U & 14U/15U teams have an incredible opportunity to spend one week in the Dominican Republic serving local communities. This trip is about much more than baseball games—it is an opportunity for our players to develop leadership, compassion, humility, teamwork, and a servant’s heart while experiencing another culture.
Throughout the week, our team will play competitive games, participate in community service projects, baseball camps, fellowship with Dominican families and organizations. Our goal is to use baseball as a bridge to build relationships, share our Faith, making a positive impact while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

*We are working with our travel partners on providing sibling discounts. Additionally, we are working with the hotel for discounts on 12u players. But these are not yet guaranteed.
The hotel is all inclusive, but many families visit at small deli near the hotel and/or spend nominal amounts on souvenirs. Otherwise on-island costs are minimal.
Purpose:
• Serve local communities (food distributions in sugar cane villages)
• Share time and experiences with Josiahs House
• Share the Gospel when given the opportunity
• Participate in baseball clinics and games
• Experience Dominican culture
• Develop leadership, teamwork, and character

During the week, players will:
• Play baseball with local teams
• Lead youth baseball clinics
• Participate in community service opportunities

Parent Frequently Asked Questions
Is the Dominican Republic safe?
Yes. Our team will travel together as a group and remain with experienced guides/translators throughout the trip. We will only visit planned locations and follow established safety guidelines.
Will coaches be with the players the entire trip?
Yes. Coaches and approved adult chaperones will supervise players throughout the entire trip.
What airport will the team fly from?
Flight information will be shared with families as soon as travel arrangements are finalized.

Does my child need a passport?
Yes. Every traveler must have a valid U.S. passport. We recommend that passports remain valid for at least six months beyond the travel dates. If your child does not already have a passport, apply as soon as possible.
Does my child need a visa?
For most U.S. citizens traveling for short stays, a separate visa is generally not required. There is an Entry Form that will need to be completed at least 3 days before our departure. Are vaccinations required?
No special vaccinations are typically required for travelers from the United States, but families should ensure players are current on routine immunizations. Parents should consult their physician regarding any recommended travel vaccinations.
What if my child takes prescription medication?
All prescription medications should:
• Remain in their original labeled containers
• Be packed in carry-on luggage
• Be communicated to the coaching staff before departure
Parents will complete a medical information form before the trip.
Will there be medical care available?
Yes. Local medical facilities are available if needed. Coaches will carry emergency contact information and communicate with parents immediately if medical attention becomes necessary.
Is travel insurance included?
We will provide basic evacuation/health supplemental Insurance for each participant. Trip Cancelation insurance is on your own.
Where will the team stay?
The team will stay in accommodations arranged by our mission partners that are safe, clean, and appropriate for youth groups. Accommodations: We will be staying at the HOLDEPA Garden Suites Additional lodging details will be shared before departure.
What meals are provided?
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided each day unless otherwise noted.
Please notify us of any food allergies or dietary restrictions well before departure.
What kind of food will be available?
Players can expect a mix of traditional Dominican cuisine along with familiar foods buffet style at the Holdepa. Bottled or purified drinking water will be provided.
Can players drink the tap water?
Players should not drink tap water. However, there are filtered water options within the hotel lobby and through the hotel restaurant. Any water provided by the hotel restaurant is processed through a filtration system. Do not drink the water in the hotel room or shower. You can refill personal water bottles from water tanks in hotel hallways.
Filtered water will be provided at games and practices.
Will players have access to phones?
Yes, although availability may vary depending on Wi-Fi access and international phone plans.
Parents are encouraged to discuss expectations for phone usage with their player before the trip.
Will parents remaining in the US receive updates?
Absolutely. Coaches will provide regular updates, photos, and important announcements throughout the week using our team communication platform.
What should my child pack?
Suggested packing list:

A detailed packing checklist will be distributed closer to departure.
Uniforms: Included in the fee for players: 2 jerseys and hat. We usually leave one jersey and our hats as donations for local players
How much spending money should players bring?
Approximately $50–$100 is generally sufficient for souvenirs and snacks, though this amount is at each family’s discretion.
Will players exchange currency?
Some purchases may be made using Dominican Pesos, although most locations also accept U.S. dollars.
What if there is an emergency at home?
Parents will receive emergency contact information before departure. Coaches will be available throughout the trip for urgent situations.
Can parents and siblings attend?
Regarding parents, at least one parent or guardian must attend with the player. Siblings are encouraged to attend and will participate in off-field activities.
What is the biggest goal of this trip?
Our mission is to use baseball to serve others, build relationships, share the Gospel and individually grow in character, and represent our team with humility, respect, and integrity. While we will strive to win baseball games, it will not be our primary goal.

Bring as much baseball stuff as you can to donate. Gloves, Hats, cups, pants, shoes etc.
